Performance Through People is proud to celebrate the remarkable achievements of Amy Storr, who has recently completed her Level 3 Team Leader apprenticeship with us – earning a distinction and progressing into the role of Store Manager at SPAR Gainsborough.
Amy began her apprenticeship in February 2024, choosing the programme to strengthen her career and progression within the retail sector. From the outset, she demonstrated dedication, resilience, and an eagerness to expand her skill set. Throughout her journey, Amy developed expertise across a wide range of operational and leadership areas, including merchandising, customer service, stock control, marketing and governance.
Amy’s growth was supported not only by her employer but also by her PTP tutor, Vanessa, whose adaptable teaching style played a vital role in Amy’s progress. Amy especially excelled when retaking the maths qualification required within the programme—a challenge she overcame through determination and tailored support.
Reflecting on her apprenticeship experience, Amy shared:
“I started the Level 3 team leader apprenticeship in February 2024, and it was the best decision I could have made to help progress my career in retail… She is a brilliant mentor, and very good at adapting her teaching styles to the individual. This was a great help to me when I retook and passed a maths qualification that was also part of the apprenticeship.”
Amy completed the programme in just over 18 months. Only three months later, she stepped into her new role as Store Manager, a natural continuation of her eight-year career at SPAR Gainsborough. Her apprenticeship not only enhanced her confidence but also strengthened her ability to lead, develop her team, and contribute effectively to the store’s success.
Her in-depth knowledge of Blakemore store operations, combined with the skills gained through her apprenticeship, ensures she is well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities of store leadership.
