What is an apprenticeship?
Whether you are looking for your first career or looking for a change, apprenticeships allow you to be employed by a real company and do a real job whilst getting hands on experience and gaining a recognised qualification. Once you have successfully completed your Apprenticeship you will have vital work experience to add to your CV, as well as your new qualification.
What can it lead to?
Depending on what level of apprenticeship you choose, including levels 2-7, the qualifications can be the equivalent to anything from GCSE’s and A-Levels through to a degree. Completion of an apprenticeship puts you in a position where you could be offered a permanent position within the same company, you could move onto another apprenticeship, or you could take your gained qualification into a new role elsewhere.
What are the requirements?
To be enrolled onto an apprenticeship, you must:
- Be 16 or over
- Have lived in the UK for 3 years or more
- Not be in full-time education
You can apply in advance of these, but you must meet the requirements by the time you begin your apprenticeship.
How long does an apprenticeship last?
Most often, an apprenticeship will take anywhere between one and four years to complete, depending on the level of the apprenticeship, the learner’s abilities, and the industry.
You will be advised of the exact length of time by our team when you apply to one of our vacancies.

Why should I choose an apprenticeship?
You have the opportunity to earn while you learn. You will receive a salary as you gain your qualification which from the 1st April 2020, must be at least £4.81 an hour. You will always receive support from your assigned tutor as well as the company you work for. Your tutor will be there to offer guidance, monitor your progress and can help you address any concerns you may have. As an employee you will receive the relevant training for the role and learn job-specific skills. Following your apprenticeship, over 90% of apprentices stay in employment, and a third of these receive promotions.
