At Performance Through People, there’s nothing more rewarding than hearing directly from our learners about their apprenticeship journey.
Jordan Hawkins recently completed his Level 3 Team Leader/Supervisor apprenticeship, achieving an outstanding Distinction. Jordan wrote a piece for us sharing his story and experience in his own words:
My journey through the Level 3 Team Leading course was an amazing experience. Getting to meet new people, work with them to achieve the same goal and learn something new every month really boosted my confidence in my role at work.
Having assignments each month daunted me at first. Looking at the questions and the information needed seemed like a task I may not be able to complete on time. The PTP workshops really put time and effort each month to help me understand what the questions were looking for and really broke them down to become more understandable. My tutor also worked closely with me helping guide me in what to focus on first and was always willing to have teams meetings for extra support if I still didn’t quite understand the questions.
Every month, my tutor Melissa would do an on-site visit at my place of work and this gave me the opportunity to show Melissa my role within the business and show the product we create and produce. We both went through my work each month which really helped with keeping me in the right direction of the questions.
As the workshops progressed, we all had to start preparing a presentation and how we are going to present them to each other, which became exhausting and nerve racking at the same time. I had practice runs with Melissa, and she really helped me with my presenting skills.
Some months really became a struggle for me trying to find time between my coursework and the busy periods of work – it felt stressful at times, but Melissa reassured me so much and we broke down big tasks into multiple small tasks and really helped with the time management for assignments and each time I got my coursework completed, I always used Melissa’s method of breaking it down, and I can’t thank Melissa enough.
After completing all the coursework needed for the End Point Assessment, the call was made to book it, which made me both excited and nervous – but I knew I was capable of passing.
The big day came around and I was prepared with my presentation and a lot of practice. I presented and answered the questions to the best of my ability – and then I waited for my results. Not only did I pass, but I passed with a distinction.
I would like to thank PTP for the Level 3 and a huge, huge thank you to Melissa Parkinson, it has been a brilliant journey.
Congratulations Jordan, thank you for sharing your apprenticeship journey with us, and we wish you every success in the future!
