Summary


The successful candidate will assist the dentist or hygienist in surgery and help with Reception where needed. Six Ways Dental Surgery's aim is to protect and maintain their patients' natural teeth through high-quality dentistry, accurate and comprehensive diagnosis and highly proficient technical skills in a safe environment.

 

Work


Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You'll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

As an apprentice, you'll work at a company and get a hands-on experience.

You'll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

What you'll do at work, duties will include:

  • Assisting the dentist chairside

  • Updating client records

  • Cleaning and decontamination of tools

  • Surgery

  • Reception duties

  • General admin duties

Training


Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You'll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Training Schedule

Your training plan:

  • Level 3 Dental Nurse Apprenticeship Standard

  • Functional Skills maths and English (if required)

  • A level 3 qualification has been approved by the General Dental Council as meeting the requirements for entry to the professional register as a dental nurse

  • This is a weekly day-release program where the apprentice attends one of PTP's centres to work towards their qualification in a classroom-based environment.

Desirable qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in:

  • English (Grade 4)

  • Maths (Grade 4)
