Meeting your specific needs

Bespoke Training provides you with opportunity of creating your own training programme(s) that specifically addresses subject areas that are important to you and your business.

Recognition of in-house training by PTP and ILM – Institute of Leadership and Management

Great leadership and management training comes in all shapes and sizes. Not everyone wants to take a formal management qualification, which is why ILM recognise good quality in-house management development through Endorsed and Development programmes. Both programmes offer you the freedom to tailor the length, content and delivery of your programme with PTP, PTP will design and deliver the programme for you and arrange approval with ILM who will monitor and endorse the overall quality of the programme. All learners receive a certificate of attainment and benefit from free studying membership of ILM for six months, or for the life of the programme if longer.

Such options have been used by many of our partners to great success strengthening the business relationships and ensuring our reputation of meeting the specific needs of our customers is continued.

Two such programmes were created to meet unique needs for:

Progress Children's Services

Performance Through people recently received an enquiry from Progress Children's Services, a customer who they have worked with for many years. This enquiry was to provide assertiveness training to members of the workforce. Having provided Time Management training previously certain work based problems were addressed, in relation to organisation and delegation, but it was further recognised that the issue of assertively taking control of teams and individual work load was still unresolved. As such, a PTP Business Development Adviser provided Progress Children's Services with an overview of the assertiveness programme that PTP provide as an open course. Having reviewed this overview it was identified that further specifics were required to meet the needs of the delegates. As such PTP's adviser contacted the tutor of this course and organised for a discussion with the employer to ensure the details required were included in the provision of the course. Having rewritten the course in line with these needs the course was run at the premises of Progress Children's Services. Following completion of this course feedback was recieved:

"Can I please discuss with you further bespoke training as the feedback I have received from those that attended the assertiveness training has been fantastic."

Anup Deol, Head of Corporate Services, Progress Children's Services

Paddock Fabrications Limited

Having been asked to visit their premises by the Managing Director, a PTP adviser attended an appointment to discuss the employer need for Leadership and Management training. Several challenges were identified in that the 17 employees could not take place in the same training at the same time and even when they were split into groups they could not take part in a full days training due to work commitments. The employer also identified specific subject matters were required for different employees. Following this discussion, PTP's adviser spoke to the Leadership and Management Tutor and worked out a training plan which meant that each group would complete a half day work shop once a month over a 12 month programme. PTP also organised with the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) a tailored award for the business called The Paddock Management Development Award. To ensure the specific development requirements of each delegate were catered for PTP then designed a training matrix which displayed all of the options for the management programme. Each delegate, in discussion with their manager, created a personal development plan from the matrix which was then mapped into their job role and performance reviews. This schedule of training took place over the designated time period allowing each delegate to complete their programme and gain the training in the specific areas they identified. They were then awarded with their own certificate which was created by ILM and included the Paddock Fabrications Ltd logo. Following the programme the following feedback was gained:

"A major move forward was that we are now working with PTP and the Institute of Leadership & Management who have endorsed the Paddock Management Development Award which has been achieved by 17 of our supervisors and line managers.

As a result, our Management team are more dynamic and responsive and this has generated better team work throughout the business. This also provided us with the encouragement and impetus to apply for, and succeed, in achieving a West Midlands Regional Finalist award at the National Training Awards in 2010."

Gordon Frost, HR Manager, Paddock Fabrications
