These qualifications provide the platform for career progression with the Health & Social Care profession and can support applications for formal recognition in nursery, midwifery and social work.

Intermediate Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care (Adults)

Introduction

This qualification is to guide and assess the development of knowledge and skills relating to the health and social care workplace.

 

For Whom

This qualification confirms competence in these areas for roles such as:

  • Key workers in residential settings
  • Healthcare assistants/support workers in community and primary care environments
  • Healthcare assistants/support workers in acute health environments
  • Care assistants/support workers/key workers in domiciliary service
  • Senior care assistants/support workers/key workers in day services
  • Support workers in supported living projects Community-based senior care assistants/support workers/key workers
  • Personal assistants employed directly by the individual they support or their families

 How is the apprenticeship structured?

To successfully achieve this Apprenticeship the following components must be completed:

  • Occupation based qualification in Health & Social Care level 2
  • Transferrable Skills in Math, English & ICT (if applicable)
  • Knowledge based qualification in Health & Social Care
  • Employer Rights and Responsibilities (if applicable)

These components create the framework for the Apprenticeship, for each component you will receive continual support from your training adviser.

 

What will I Learn?

The Core units for this qualification are:

  • Introduction to Communication in Health & Social Care
  • Introduction to Equality and Inclusion in Health & Social Care
  • Introduction to Personal Development in Health & Social Care
  • Introduction to Duty of Care in Health & Social Care

Optional units will also be chosen to complete the qualification content.

Entry Requirements

There are no minimum levels of previous qualifications required.

 

How long will it take?

It will take a maximum of 12 months

 

What Support Will I Receive?

You will be appointed a Training Advisor whose role it is to guide you through your programme by providing one to one tuition and supporting you in your workplace. Regular Review Meetings will take place with you and your direct line manager so that we can ensure you are receiving the kind of development, motivation and well being that you need to have to help you achieve your nationally recognised qualification.

 

Next Steps

Once this qualification has been achieved there is the opportunity to progress on to other qualifications which can further develop your career/or skills, such as:-

  • Health and Social Care Level 3
  • Team Leading Level 2

Advanced Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care (Adults)

  • Senior care assistants/support workers/key workers in residential settings
  • Senior healthcare assistants/support workers in community and primary care environments
  • Senior healthcare assistants/support workers in acute health environments
  • Senior care assistant/support workers/key workers in domiciliary services
  • Senior care assistants/support workers/key workers in day services
  • Senior support workers in supported living projects
  • Community-based senior care assistants/support workers/key workers, including those working in specialist areas, e.g. dementia, learning disabilities
  • Personal assistants employed directly by the individual they support of their families
  • Emerging new types of workers and multidisciplinary health roles crossing traditional service barriers and delivery models

 

How is the apprenticeship structured?

Introduction

The purpose of this qualification is to guide and assess the development of knowledge and skills relating to the health workforce. This qualification confirms competence in a range of health support service skills.

For Whom

This qualification is aimed at those who work in Health or Social care setting and wish to develop their skills and knowledge within supporting services.

 

How is the apprenticeship structured?

To successfully achieve this Apprenticeship the following components must be completed:

  • Occupation based qualification in Healthcare Support Services Level 2
  • Transferrable Skills in Math & English (if applicable)
  • Knowledge based qualification in Healthcare Support Services
  • Personal Learning & Thinking Skills
  • Employer Rights and Responsibilities (if applicable)

These components create the framework for the Apprenticeship, for each component you will receive continual support from your training adviser.

 

What will I Learn?

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge to progress within the healthcare profession and provide a quality driven service. Some of the areas of study include:

  • Personal Development in Health and Social Care
  • Communication in Health and Social Care
  • Equality and Inclusion in Health and Social Care
  • The Role of the Health and Social Care Worker
  • Contribute to Health and Safety in Health and Social Care

 

Entry Requirements

There are no minimum levels or previous qualifications required. It may be necessary to undertake an assessment to identify your current levels in Maths, English and ICT.
