Intermediate Apprenticeship in Accounting
Introduction
This qualification in accounting is based in industry standards, there are no portfolios, and each unit is assessed through an on-line Examination which has to be passed to continue. In this programme there are 6 units that have to be completed.
For Whom
This qualification is designed for those people who:
- Are involved in the day to day office activities with some responsibility for cash management.
- Are seeking a career in Accountancy with a view to progressing on to higher levels
To successfully achieve this Apprenticeship the following components must be completed:
- Occupation based qualification in Accounting Level 2
- Transferrable Skills in Math, English & ICT (if applicable)
- Accounting Examination
- Personal Learning & Thinking Skills
- Employer Rights and Responsibilities (if applicable)
These components create the framework for the Apprenticeship, for each component you will receive continual support from your training adviser.
What will I Learn?
At this level you'll start to develop your skills in double entry bookkeeping and gain a grasp of management and administrative processes. You'll learn basic costing principles, how to use manual and computerised accounting systems and how to work with purchase, sales, and general ledgers and costing.

There are no minimum levels of previous qualifications required.
What Support Will I Receive?
You will attend weekly classroom training sessions for the duration of the course with the Tutor guiding you through the qualification. You will also be expected to complete weekly homework. Regular Review Meetings will take place with you and your direct line manager so that we can ensure you are receiving the kind of development, motivation and well being that you need to have to help you achieve your nationally recognised qualification.

Advanced Apprenticeship in Accountancy
Introduction
This course can only be delivered in a classroom environment. There are no Portfolios, and each Unit is assessed through an on-line Examination which has to be passed to continue. In this programme there are 7 units that have to be completed.
For Whom
This level is approximately equivalent to an A-Level or Highers (Scotland), and teaches finance officer processes and is therefore appropriate for those individuals who require this knowledge as part of their job role.
To successfully achieve this Apprenticeship the following components must be completed:
- Occupation based qualification in Accounting Level 3
- Transferrable Skills in Maths, English & ICT (if applicable)
- Accounting Examination
- Personal Learning & Thinking Skills
- Employer Rights and Responsibilities (if applicable)
These components create the framework for the Apprenticeship, for each component you will receive continual support from your training adviser.
What will I Learn?
This level introduces more complex accounting tasks, like preparing final accounts for sole traders and partnerships. You’ll also learn how to maintain cost accounting records and preparation of reports and returns. Financial spreadsheets and professional ethics are also covered.

It will take a maximum of 15 to 18 months
Entry Requirements
There are no minimum levels of previous qualifications required, Preferable A-C Maths and English. However it is advisable to have completed the Certificate in Accounting at Level 2 before progressing on to this qualification If you do not have AAT Level 2 you will be required to undertake an accounting assessment to identify current knowledge.

Higher Apprenticeship in Accountancy Level 4
Introduction
This course can only be delivered in a classroom environment. There are no portfolios, and 6 units are assessed through an on-line examination which has to be passed to continue, and the Internal Control and Accounting Systems unit has to be produce in the form of a 3500- 4000 word document and submitted electronically to your Tutor for marking. In this programme there are 7 units that have to be completed.
For Whom
This level is approximately equivalent to the first year of a foundation degree, and teaches skills most relevant to finance team leader roles.
To successfully achieve this Apprenticeship the following components must be completed:
- Occupation based qualification in Accounting Level 4
- Transferrable Skills in Maths, English & ICT (if applicable)
- Accounting Examination
- Personal Learning & Thinking Skills
- Employer Rights and Responsibilities (if applicable)
These components create the framework for the Apprenticeship, for each component you will receive continual support from your training adviser.
What will I Learn?
Here you'll learn how to draft financial statements for limited companies, perform complex management accounting tasks and develop your own management skills. This level includes a choice of special units, which means that you can focus on the areas of accounting that suit you.
